The author of Fearvana, Akshay Nanavati  joins Drew to recount his journey of physical, mental, and spiritual transformation. As a teenager, Akshay found himself in a dark place filled with drugs and alcohol. Luckily, he watched the movie Black Hawk Down and his life was forever changed. He cleaned up and joined the Marines and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was there he found the beauty of adversity and suffering. He wanted to challenge himself. He describes his time in the service and the psychological effects of returning home. He has created the Fearvana Foundation whose mission is to help those who don't have the resources, means, or abilities to transcend their suffering.
