Robb Wolf joins Drew on this educational podcast about the importance of understanding your unique nutritional needs. Robb grew up in a family who didn’t stress the importance of a healthy lifestyle or nutrition. During his college years, Robb experimented with his diet and basically stressed out his body. He ended up with ulcerative colitis and, instead of removing half of his intestinal tract, he decided to change his nutritional life. Robb’s new book, Wired to Eat, looks at the science associated with a body’s glucose levels.

Drew and Robb discuss medical technologies, why one diet doesn’t fit all and parenting during the nutritional crisis in the U.S.

Check out Drew's new 60-day Jump Start to Keto program and Subscribe & Review this podcast on iTunes | Stitcher.

Key Takeaways:

[05:33] At 26, Robb had worn his body down due to unhealthy eating and sleeping habits.

[16:22] Robb had to rethink his program after clients found early success but then became exhausted.

[22:59] For Robb, every meal is a simple equation.

[29:43] Humans should be metabolically flexible.

[41:03] Always apply medical technologies in a manner consistent with a healthy lifestyle.

[46:53] We are genetically wired to eat more and move less.

[54:24] Robb's children understand the concept of healthy eating.

Drew welcomes the owner and founder of DNX bars, John Rooney. John started DNX Bars to provide a nutritious option for people who are on the go. John spent 20 years running his own business and not paying attention to his wellness. At age 50, when he sold his company, he decided he was going to turn his lifestyle on its head and start being good to himself. John found getting into the ‘Meat Snack’ industry was fairly simple but making real food to nourish people was a bit more challenging. It was a challenge he was willing to accept. When John realized government nutrition labels were a farce, he was determined to get people and food manufacturers involved in DNX’s Declaration of Transparency to educate people of a product's true ingredients, without being deceived by jargon and workarounds.
