The beauty of growing and learning as humans is that sometimes we discover new techniques and practices that transcend what we previously thought was the most effective. Current healing methods for joint, nerve, muscle, and structural pain may involve an MRI or X Rays but what if we don’t need to put our bodies into machines to find and heal the source of our problem? That’s what Drew’s guest, Dr. Eugene Charles suggests. Dr. Charles founded The Applied Kinesiology Center of New York and he practices and teaches Applied Kinesiology in New York City. During this interview, he shares tips and takeaways from his book, Journey to Healing: The Art and Science of Applied Kinesiology, how muscle testing works, and how Applied Kinesiology fits into the Triad of Health.

There is a lot of debate about what type of diet is most beneficial for the human body. Vegans vehemently support a plant only approach, while others still count calories and avoid salt. For most of us, our bodies will tell us which type of foods we should eat by reacting adversely to a diet that doesn’t serve our health. So, have we been misled about what foods truly nourish our intricate, multifaceted systems? To find out more about the Carnivore diet Drew welcomes the author of The Carnivore Code, Dr. Paul Saladino to the podcast. Dr. Saladino may be best known for the unwarranted verbal lashing he received on the television show, The Doctors for stating his case for a strict carnivore diet. During this episode, Dr. Saladino describes the connection between food and autoimmune disease, the health woes he alleviated by living carnivore, and the studies and evidence that back up his findings.

[13:28] The connection between food and autoimmune diseases is rarely discussed in the medical community.

[51:20] Are there supplements a person should consider while on the carnivore diet?

[54:21] When starting the carnivore diet consider these things.

If you have been struggling with your weight loss goals know that a healthy body is about more than diet and exercise. The human brain is wired to find the easiest, fastest way to satiate hunger. Unfortunately in our modern world, processed food is designed to be quick and easy. So beating yourself up for reaching for a bag of something to snack on will only cause unnecessary stress. To change existing or create new habits and behaviors we need to create new neural pathways. Drew’s guest, Eliza Kingsford, helps her patients do just that. She is a licensed psychotherapist and author of the book, Brain-Powered Weight Loss. During this episode, she shares how our emotions lead us toward certain types of food, how our mindset can shape our eating patterns and the 3 Pillar Process she uses to change people’s lives.

Minerals are essential for proper body function. Mothers can increase their baby’s IQ score, improved cognitive function, and quality sleep with vivid dreams are all benefits based on the right ratio of minerals in the body. But, how do we know what minerals we may be deficient in and what minerals we may be getting too much of? Hair testing is proven more effective than blood tests in obtaining an overall picture of health by testing the elements present and omitted. To get a better understanding of how minerals improve our quality of life Drew speaks with the Founder of Upgraded Formulas, Barton Scott. Scott is a chemical engineer who created a technology using nanominerals that are absorbed by the cell without the use of digestion. During the conversation, Barton describes the personal circumstances that led him to create nanomineral technology, the manner in which minerals shape our daily lives, and some benefits of taking mineral supplements.

If you like the podcast subscribe & review it on iTunes | Stitcher

Key Takeaways:

[6:34] Barton grew up in the wilderness of Louisiana with parents who promoted book reading and physical exertion through sports.

[11:09] After high school, Barton had a noticeable decline in his short term memory.

[16:12] Barton describes what led him to test his minerals and then to create a technology every one could benefit from.

[18:19] Why a hair test offers more information about minerals than a blood test.

[20:04] Barton describes the purpose of common minerals and how to identify the symptoms of being deficient.

[25:32] Why nanominerals are more easily absorbed by the body.

[35:53] Upgraded Formulas offers a full line of liquid and encapsulated minerals and test kits.

Or conversely, the toxins that can be present when coffee is not optimally roasted or stored. Study after study concludes that coffee can prevent Type 2 diabetes, liver and heart disease. To unearth what makes coffee so good for us and what we should look out for, Drew speaks with the Founder of Purity Coffee, Andrew Salisbury. Andrew went in search of relief for his wife’s extreme fatigue. When she said it was coffee that kept her going throughout the day, Andrew decided to find the purest, most natural, healthiest coffee in the world. During this conversation, he shares what makes coffee healthy, what makes some coffee deficient, and a myriad of little known facts about coffee.

Why is our western culture riddled with joint pain, stiffness, and circulatory issues? Because we don’t move enough. The human body wasn’t designed to sit in a chair or lie on a couch for hours on end. But for many of us, we play our role in society and work for long hours at a desk or use television as a form of relaxation. In this jovial and educational episode Drew’s guest, Aaron Alexander, explains simple ways we can transform our posture and attitude with simple, effective, natural movements that don’t interfere with our craving for technology. Aaron is a manual therapist and movement coach who is responsible for the Align Podcast and the author of the new book, The Align Method. During the podcast, Aaron explains how and why we lose our range of mobility when other cultures don’t, how movement affects our mental and emotional health, and why introspection is necessary and so darn funny.

Did you know not all probiotics are created equal? Many of the probiotics offered in stores may not stay alive long enough to reach your gut. And, the number one, most important thing for a probiotic to be effective is that it ‘arrives alive’. Drew welcomes the Co-founder and CEO of Just Thrive, Tina Anderson, to the podcast to discuss why probiotics are important for gut health, what makes the probiotics her company offers different from the rest, and the benefit of taking high-quality probiotics for overall better health. Many times in our lives we are told don’t quit, hang in there, or stick with it, but is it healthy to continue doing something that makes us miserable? What if making a change could lead us to joy and contentment? To find the answer Drew speaks expert quitter and author of Quitting by Design, Dr. Lynn Marie Morski. Dr. Morski began strategically quitting when she struggled in her career as a multimedia designer so she did a 360 and decided to go back to college to become a doctor of sports medicine. A quarter of a million dollars later she figured out sports medicine wasn’t for her either. Did she flounder? No. Today she uses her varied education to inform others about the benefits of quitting. She is the host of three podcasts and she runs PlantMedicine.org where she dives deep into the medicines not taught about in medical school.

Testing ketone levels can be frustrating. Results can be all over the board because keto enzymes are super sensitive and most types of ketone level tests can be subject to contaminants every time you open the bottle. Drew’s guest Matt Payne, the founder of KetoCoach X along with his wife designed their ketone blood level monitors to be different. Each test strip is autocoding, requires less blood than other strips, and is individually wrapped in foil to protect it from contaminants. During this interview, Matt explains why the foil testing is so important, what is on the horizon for ketone and glucose testing, and the distinctive attributes that make KetoCoach X the best strips available.
